Giant variable thorny oyster's description
Giant variable thorny oyster (Spondylus varius) is a species of large marine bivalve mollusc in the family Spondylidae.
Found intertidal on dead corals. Depth estimate based on ecology. Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
